This Halloween, Parambrata Chatterjee is releasing the second chapter of the Bhaduri Moshai adventure, titled Nikash Chaya, on October 31 on Hoichoi.
This Bhoot Chaturdashi, around Halloween, Parambrata Chatterjee will bring the second chapter of the Bhaduri Moshai adventure. After last year’s Parnashavarir Shaap, Chiranjit Chakraborty will return as Niren Bhadury. On October 31, Nikash Chaya will be dropped in Hoichoi. Billed as a chilling ghost story based on Tantra, the show also features Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Arna Mukhopadhyay, and Anindita Bose.
Regarding his idea of ‘ghost,’ Parambrata said, “The word Bhut (ghost) is assimilated in Bengali culture. It means the past as well as the supernatural. In that sense, Bhut is our all-time companion. We also jokingly call someone a Bhut. This is called affectionately. We have many ghosts in Bengali literature — the funny ones written by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Bhusandir Mathe by Parsuram, Troilokyanath Mukhopadhyay’s Pujar Bhut, or the supernatural in Debjan by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay and we accepted all of them.”

Did he ever feel their existence in reality? Parambrata replied, “I can’t say definitely. But I can’t say that this did not happen, either. I felt weird entering some spaces, they gave me goosebumps. I felt that I should not stay there. While staying in a rented place, I woke up many times from my night sleep, contrary to my habit. I once rented a house in Mumbai. After staying a few nights, Nasir, the boy who stayed with me, did not want to stay in that house. He said that sounds came all through the night and it felt like someone walked in the other room. Then I remembered that I was sick while staying at the house and continuously woke up. I can label them as supernatural, but do not know whether they are uncanny or not.”
