Nikhil Siddhartha’s recent espionage thriller Spy released amidst humungous expectations in theatres and registered impressive opening figures, despite garnering mixed responses from critics and audiences. However, it was evident that the producers of the film didn’t have a proper strategy for its pan-Indian release and the team had to compromise on the output to release as per time.

While thanking audiences for giving the best opening in his career, Nikhil shared a heartfelt note today. Conveying his gratitude to audiences for the trust in his films, he admitted that Spy didn’t have a proper multilingual release in Indian owing to contract/content delay shows. The actor regretted to inform that over 350 premiere shows in overseas locations were cancelled for the same season.

He apologised to Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam audiences for the poor planning of Spy and promised them that his next three films will release in theatres on time without compromising on quality. Nikhil shared he wouldn’t yield to pressures around any film henceforth and ensure a ‘finished, checked and fantastic’ product no matter what.

The Happy Days star has three films in the pipeline as of now - The India House, Swayambhu and Karthikeya 3. The India House centres on the life of Veer Savarakar while Swayambhu is a period drama, where he’ll be playing a warrior. Karthikeya 3 will take time to go on floors until Nikhil and director Chandoo Mondeti wrap up their current commitments. The latter is reportedly working on a film with Naga Chaitanya next.

Iswarya Menon, Sanya Thakur, Abhinav Gomatam, Makarand Deshpande, Suresh, Aryan Rajesh and Sachin Khedekar played other important roles in Spy, directed by editor Garry BH. The thriller revolving around an agent’s quest for a terrorist, will be out on Amazon Prime Video across five languages later this month.
