Niharika: The teaser of Indrasis Acharya’s film shows a glimpse of Shilajit and Anuradha
After its festival round, Indrasish Acharya’s new film Niharika will be released for the Bengali audience. The teaser was released on Saturday. The film which features Shilajit Majumder and Anuradha Mukherjee is billed as an intense relationship drama.
In the teaser, Shilajit and Anuradha seem to be in a conversation. Shilajit tries to convince Anuradha about something. He also is seen seeking peace for the rest of his life. There is a third person there but we can’t see his face in the teaser.
The film will be released on July 21. According to the director, the film was praised in eight festivals. It tells the story of the relationship between a girl and her maternal uncle. Indrasis said, “The film should not be restricted to a specific field. It is a girl's story. It has relationships and breakups and also has the girl finding herself among nature. It also tells the story of the girl living independently and alone at last.” There is a lonely house in a big field. It is called Niharika. The story will revolve around this.
Shilajit plays Anuradha's maternal uncle. He is a doctor who lived in Simultala. He and his wife brought Anuradha to them and came to the house, Niharika. Anuradha has a disturbing past. She tries to move on, forgetting her past. Who is the other man in the film? Indrasis said he is Anindya Sengupta, who played the hero in Srijit Mukhopadhyay's film X=Prem.
The film is shot in remote areas in Madhupur, Simultala, and Giridih for one year to capture three seasons – summer, monsoon, and winter. Niharika is a crowdfunded project in which about 15 co-producers chipped in to finish the project. Indrasis explained that since independent films are not made keeping commercial success in mind, it becomes difficult to gather funds. “When we started shooting the film, only one producer, Pastel Entertainment, financed the first bit. It was only after the first phase of shooting, that we showed our work to other producers and they came forward. I believe that it is important to have a space for creative independence,” he explained.
