Swimming at night had never been daunting till the trailer of Night Swim dropped. Slated for an early 2024 release, the film lacks all hints of humor implied by the notion of a haunted swimming pool.
Night Swim
Night Swim is an upcoming 2024 film, that will be released theatrically on January 5, 2024. Based on the original titular short film by Bryce McGuire and Rod Blackhurst, the former is returning to direct and write the screenplay for the feature film Night Swim. The project will be produced by James Wan and Jason Blum of Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions respectively.
Trailer and Cast of Night Swim
Night Swim’s trailer was dropped on October 5, 2023, while its second trailer was dropped on November 30, and featured a stellar cast comprising Wyatt Russell as Ray Waller, Kerry Condon as his wife Eve, Amélie Hoeferle as his daughter Izzy, and Gavin Warren as his son Elliot. The film will also star actors Nancy Lenehan, Ben Sinclair and Jodi Long in undisclosed roles.
Plot of Night Swim
The official plot synopsis for Night Swim shares, “Based on the acclaimed 2014 short film by Rod Blackhurst and Bryce McGuire, the film stars Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Ray Waller, a former major league baseball player forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness.”
The synopsis continues, “[He] who moves into a new home with his concerned wife Eve (Oscar nominee Kerry Condon, The Banshees of Inisherin), teenage daughter Izzy (Amélie Hoeferle, this fall’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and young son Elliot (Gavin Warren, Fear the Walking Dead).”
It concludes, “Secretly hoping, against the odds, to return to pro ball, Ray persuades Eve that the new home’s shimmering backyard swimming pool will be fun for the kids and provide physical therapy for him. But a dark secret in the home’s past will unleash a malevolent force that will drag the family under, into the depths of inescapable terror.”
