Nick Jonas and Top Gun: Maverick fame Glen Powell to star in buddy comedy titled ‘Foreign Relations’

Actress Elizabeth Banks will be producing Foreign Relations along with husband and production partner Max Handelman.

Singer-songwriter and actor Nick Jonas has signed on to star in a buddy comedy titled Foreign Relations. Deadline broke the news on June 30 which included that young actor Glen Powell, who played a prominent part in the recent blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick will play the other lead in Foreign Relations. The same report also reveals that Amazon Studios won the high-profile bidding war to acquire rights to the film.

The feature will be directed by Kat Coiro, well known for helming the romantic comedy Marry Me starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and directing episodes of several hit TV shows like Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc. Coiro is also associated with Marvel’s upcoming TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and The Spiderwick Chronicles for Disney+.

Actress Elizabeth Banks will be producing Foreign Relations along with husband and production partner Max Handelman. Banks and Handelman will be associated with the project through their home production house of Brownstone Productions which has previously backed projects like Pitch Perfect 1, 2, & 3, and Charlie’s Angels (2019) - Elizabeth Banks has also directed a bunch of their home productions. Nick Jonas and Greg Powell too are credited as the producers of Foreign Relations along with Alison Powell.

Nick Jonas, who is married to Priyanka Chopra, shot to fame as part of the three-member musical group Jonas Brothers (also including brothers Kevin and Joe). His acting journey began in theatre before he made his TV debut in 2008 – his major credits include the recent Jumanji films and the 2021 sci-fi drama Chaos Walking. Glen Powell, on the other hand, is known for films like Everybody Wants Some!! and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises – he rose to prominence for playing the hot-shot pilot Hangman in the very recent blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick which also starred Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and others.
