Neymar star Naslen, Mamitha Baiju to team up in Girish AD’s romcom, co-produced by Fahadh Faasil

After his two successful outings as a director with coming-of-age tales – Thaneer Mathan Dinangal and Super Sharanya, filmmaker Girish AD will be hoping for a hat-trick with his third romcom starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju.

Girish had previously worked with Naslen in Thaneer Mathan Dinangal and Super Sharanya. Naslen was also part of Girish’s yet-to-be-released movie I Am Kathalan, which had gone on floors last year. Mamitha had played the role of Sona in Super Sharanya, which is currently streaming on ZEE5. The upcoming movie, which is expected to go on floors later this month, is backed by Bhavana Studios.

Fahadh Faasil took to his social media page to announce their collaboration with Girish, saying that the movie will be “a fun-filled romcom”, while sharing a photo of the filmmaker with the two other production partners – director Dileesh Pothan and scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran.

Bhavana Studios’ previous production ventures, which didn’t include Fahadh, includes Basil Joseph’s Palthu Janwar and Dileesh’s recent release O.Baby, which was helmed by Ranjan Pramod and is expected to release on an OTT platform soon.

Meanwhile, Naslen, who was recently seen in Neymar with Mathew Thomas, is also part of the upcoming coming-of-age tale titled 18+, which also has Nikhila Vimal in the role of a lawyer. The movie, which is helmed by Jo and Jo director Arun D Jose, is currently scheduled to release in July.

Naslen’s Neymar, which had performed well in theatres, is also gearing up to release on Disney+ Hotstar. Mamitha Baiju was previously seen in Arjun Ashokan and Anaswara Rajan’s Pranaya Vilasam, which is also streaming on ZEE5.

The actress incidentally is also part of Nivin Pauly’s film with Haneef Adeni that had recently wrapped up production. The film also has Arsha Chandini Baiju in a pivotal role and was extensively filmed in Dubai.
