Bindu Madhavi plays the female lead in the series bankrolled by People Media Factory
Navdeep was among the rare mainstream Telugu actor who embraced the digital medium nearly five years ago, when OTT still wasn’t the catchword among audiences. Having forayed into the streaming world with Nandini Reddy’s Gangstars, Navdeep was part of several web shows Ragini MMS Returns, Mastis and Ram Yug for leading platforms like ZEE5, aha and MX Player.
Mastis, aha’s show that released prior to COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, garnered a lot of critical acclaim, with viewers heaping praise on Navdeep’s edgy performance. He is returning to the popular streamer with another show, Newsense, for which he’s reuniting with his Mastis co-star Bindu Madhavi. Directed by Sri Prawin Kumar, Newsense is produced by People Media Factory.
The teaser of Navdeep’s latest digital endeavour was launched yesterday. In the glimpse, crowds who’ve come for a political gathering are given bribes by the party workers while a reporter Sudhakar, based out of Chittor, is taking note of the proceedings. The politician Nagi Reddy makes pompous claims about crowds’ love for him and why he doesn’t need to pay them to come for his events.
‘There are so many people at my event even when I haven’t paid them. How many more will attend if I pay the attendees?,’ the politician goes about his speech. A man from the crowd throws a slipper at the leader and there’s mayhem. However, the reporter (Navdeep) is unperturbed, signalling that the ‘slipper’ act was indeed staged. The slick edits, cinematography create an impact.
The teaser hints that Bindu Madhavi plays a journalist as well. With the story and screenplay by Priyadarshini Ram, the show is created and directed by Sri Prawin Kumar. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and co-produced by Vivek Kuchibhotla, the series has music by Suresh Bobbili and cinematography by Anantnag Kavuri. Srinivas Bainaboyina is the editor and Kiran Mamidi is the art director.
