Based on the life story of Kunjali Marakkar, the historical war film directed by Priyadarshan will hit theatres on December 2, 2021
In less than a month’s time, Lalettan fans will see Mohanlal hit the big screen again, donning the role of Kerala’s celebrated hero Kunjali Marakkar in the upcoming Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. But as even that seems a long wait, the star himself has let out a brand new poster for the war film, much to the delight of die hard fans.
The veteran actor took to his social media to release the new poster, which sees him in a battle ready stance, sword in hand. Face rugged and dust clad, the actor is seen donning the iconic attire of Marakkar and staring off into the distance. The photograph’s caption reminds audiences of the film’s theatrical release date, December 2, 2021.
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is set in the 1500s and 1600s and tells the story of Kerala’s famous warrior Kunjali Marakkar. Marakkar’s title was given to him by the king of Kozhikode for the former’s prowess as a navy chief. He was a key figure in the battles against the Portuguese and is credited with being a part of the group which established the Indian coast’s first naval defense.
In addition to Mohanlal starring as the titular hero, the upcoming historical war film also features Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Mukesh, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu and Pranav Mohanlal. The film is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Moonshot Entertainments and Confident Group.
