Netizens set Rs 435 crore target for Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra’s Hindi version; won’t break KGF2’s record, they say
Netizens reckon that Brahmastra will not get get anywhere near KGF's massive collection figures

The massive box office success of Rocking Star Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 has put a lot of pressure on every other big-ticket release that has come out since then, with netizens comparing figures. So far, no other film has managed to come anywhere close to the box office numbers of KGF2. Prior to the release of Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger, which marked his Bollywood debut, it was expected that the Arjun Reddy star would makes waves at the box office. But the film has failed to make a mark and netizens have already switched attention to the next big film – Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra part 1.

The discussions on social media now centre on whether Brahmastra can a) break KGF2’s day 1 Hindi gross of Rs 54 crore and b) if it can get to or overcome the Yash-starrer’s lifetime Hindi collection – Rs 435 crore. The overwhelming sentiment right now is that the Ranbir film stands no chance to recover the kind of money that KGF2 did. Calling Ayan’s film an amateurish attempt, twitterati has been saying that it would be a wonder if the film manages a lifetime collection of Rs 50 crore. “Let it break Shameshera's record first,” is a common refrain on social media. Many also felt that the current atmosphere wherein there are boycott calls for every other Hindi film, most of which have bitten dust at the box office, will also not bode well for Brahmastra. Moreover, Ranbir, they said, does not have a pan-India appeal. The dubbing quality of the film has also come under the scanner, with audiences claiming that the team has done a shoddy job just for the sake of ensuring it gets a pan-India release.

The problem if Brahmastra 1 fails, they say, is that it will affect the other two instalments of the three-part series. Brahmastra also stars Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, among others.
