Radio jockey-turned-actor Balaji, who is awaiting the release of Veetla Vishesham, the Tamil remake of Badhaai Ho, took part at a college event, as the chief guest. He discussed how young men find it tough to socialise and work with women in the office space. "We deny both genders social skills by segregating boys and girls in schools," he pointed out.

Balaji went on to explain that Tamil films influence men's perceptions of educated and working women. Citing Rajinikanth's films (Padayappa and Mannan), as examples of such depictions, he remarked, "In Padayappa, the girl, who does household chores, is portrayed as the good woman, and the foreign-bred educated woman is the bad one. In Mannan, too, Vijayashanthi, who works and runs a company, is the bad one. While Khushbu the one who helps the mom at home, is the good one. Films portray women in a very wrong way." At the same time, Balaji admitted he's a big fan of Superstar Rajinikanth.

The RJ-actor-director is appreciated for his honest speech on Twitter and Facebook. People from several quarters praised him for having discussed an important issue in society.

Balaji’s latest outing was Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar). The film had the lady Superstar playing a goddess. It also featured Moulee, Urvashi, and Smruthi Venkat, in key roles.

Apart from playing the male lead in the upcoming Veetla Vishesham, Balaji has directed it along with NJ Saravanan. (The duo had previously helmed Mookuthi Amman) The first look poster of the film, which was out, had a design like a baby shower invitation. Urvashi is featured as a pregnant lady, surrounded by her family members played by Sathyaraj, late KPAC Lalitha and Balaji.

The original (Badhaai Ho) featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajaraj Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the lead and it revolved around a middle-aged couple who got pregnant.

The title 'Veetla Vishesham' has been inspired by K Bhagyaraj’s 1994 Tamil comedy drama, Veetla Visheshanga.

Veetla Vishesham, scheduled to hit screens on June 17, is produced by Boney Kapoor, under Bayview projects and it stars Aparna Balamurali as the female lead.
