As we inch closer to the release of Daredevil: Born Again, a rumour claims Marvel Studio is already developing The Punisher series.
The Punisher Series In Development At Marvel Studios?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering its wildest phase yet, ushering in a new era where mutants and street-level superheroes are taking center stage. The inclusion of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Echo is an intriguing step in this direction, leaving fans eager to see how things unfold. Daredevil: Born Again picks up from where the Netflix series' third season ended, officially integrating the character into MCU canon. Now, Marvel Studios seems poised to expand this universe further with another series inspired by its Netflix roots: none other than The Punisher. That’s right—as per new reports, a fresh series starring Jon Bernthal is reportedly in development.
For those who might not recall, Jon Bernthal debuted as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in Daredevil Season 2, alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. His portrayal received widespread acclaim, leading Netflix to commission a spin-off series that lasted two seasons before being canceled. However, history might repeat itself. Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is planning a new series continuing the story from the original Netflix series, much like how Daredevil has been revived and made canon with Daredevil: Born Again.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman on Patreon, he has "once again" heard that "a new Punisher show is in development," though details remain sparse. Additional reports suggest that, like Daredevil, this new Punisher series will canonize the Netflix show while continuing its narrative. It will be exciting to see how Marvel manages to weave everything seamlessly into the MCU.

You read that correctly. Over the past year, reports have suggested that Marvel’s primary focus is on major upcoming events like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. However, the studio is already looking beyond these blockbusters and considering the future of Daredevil in the MCU. Interestingly, it appears that Daredevil will not have a role in Doomsday.
According to The Cosmic Circus, Marvel is already discussing plans for Daredevil post-Secret Wars. This includes ideas for a third season of Daredevil: Born Again and potential appearances in upcoming MCU films. While there’s no confirmation yet on which films Daredevil might appear in, at least one major upcoming project seems to be off the table.
The official synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again reads:"In Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, fights for justice
through his bustling law firm while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. As their past identities resurface, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course."
