Netflix is all set to bring its post-production facility to Mumbai. The city, which is a hub for Bollywood, is also where Netflix’s operations are based.

The facility, however, will be fully operational only from June 2022. It would have 40 offline editing suites.

Talking to Variety, Netflix’s post-production director Vijay Venkataramanan said, “This wonderful creative space in Mumbai reinforces our commitment to India’s entertainment industry as we continue to empower creators with the best resources to tell great stories.”

Netflix also shared through a blog post, “Our goal is to keep improving the overall experience for our talent and industry partners, and equip them with the best resources to tell authentic stories in the most engaging manner. We are in a golden age of entertainment in India – this is the best time to be a creator and consumer of great stories.”

In 2020, the OTT giant had released NetFX, through which Indian artistes could contribute to the VFX for global Netflix titles. It is now investing in training workshops across post-production, script writing and other aspects of production.

Despite launching only in 2016, Netflix has grown tenfold and is among the most in-demand OTT. Apart from streaming global content, the platform also invested in local programming. They announced a slate of 40 projects across genres in March.

So far, Netflix has partnered with Sacred Games, Delhi Crime, Ludo, Guilty, Pagglait, Paava Kadhaigal and Dhanush’s Jagame Thandhiram. The movie, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is slated for June 18 release in 2021.
