Reportedly, Konkona Sensharma might feature in one of the short films.
Anthologies have become a growing trend on OTT platforms in India. Almost every streaming platform has explored this space, and it has become a successful venture. Interestingly, with Lust Stories released on Netflix in 2018, produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies and Ashi Dua, the streamer was one of the first platforms in India to try its hand at the narrative approach. It's been reported that Netflix is now planning a second season of Lust Stories with producers working on the idea since November 2021.
So far, filmmakers like R. Balki, Sriram Raghavan, and Amit Sharma have been roped in on board, according to reports in Mid Day.
Speaking of the same, a source told the tabloid that the producers are looking for a fourth director. The project will only go into production toward the middle of the year, as the directors are still deciding on the best scripts for their pieces.
Reports have it that Konkona Sensharma will star in one of the shorts. Only after the storylines have been completed will the cast be locked, concluded the source.
Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, and Dibakar Banerjee directed the 2018 anthology, which was their first collaboration since Bombay Talkies (2013). In 2020, the quartet reunited for Ghost Stories.
Lust Stories featured actors, namely Kiara Advani, Radhika Apte, Bhumi Pednekar, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Neil Bhoopalam, Neha Dhupia, Sanjay Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Akash Thosar in the four short stories.
At the 47th International Emmy Awards, the film was nominated for two awards, namely, Best TV Movie or Miniseries and Best Actress for Apte.
Talking about the overall premise, it's an anthology of four stories from the perspective of an Indian woman that throws insight on modern relationships.
