To engage with the South Indian audiences, the streaming giant has now launched separate social media handles promoting South Indian content.
Launching in India in 2016, Netflix has been detrimental in shaping up the online streaming space in the country. Since the past five odd years, the streaming giant has extensively ramped up the Indian content available on the platform. From desi content ranging across different languages and genres, the streaming giant has left no stone unturned to keep audiences entertained. In recent times, the streaming giant has actively curated South Indian content across major South Indian languages, even coming up with dubbed versions of popular shows on the platform. In an attempt to engage with the South Indian viewers, the streamer has now launched social media handles dedicated solely to South Indian content.
Just a few days ago, Netflix India tweeted a series of cryptic tweets hinting towards Netflix's South India social media handle. The series of three tweets were captioned, “The wait will be over soon, Pablo Chetta!, " "Mark your calendars – July 7th. #NammaStoriesNammaNetflix" and “Vaathi’s order is coming. Mark your calendars – July 7th #NammaStoriesNammaNetflix.”
The Pablo reference comes from the Tamil dubbed version of Netflix's mega-hit Mexican series, Narcos. On the other hand, Vaathi's reference point is the Tamil dubbed version of the popular series Money Heist. The move also hints at the upcoming dubbed versions of other popular Netflix shows with a tweet teasing the dubbed version of Stranger Things that gathered a huge viewership.
The streaming giant has made the move to focus more on South Indian content, keeping in line with the recent big releases from the South entertainment industry. Recently, South superstar Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram was also among the list of much-awaited Netflix's releases. With the formation of a separate social media handle, audiences can expect more engagement and South Indian content to be available on the streaming platform.
