Netflix axes four comedy shows, Details inside

The four shows were cancelled right before the holiday weekend in the US

Netflix has cancelled four of its comedy series this week. The announcement comes right before the holiday weekend in the United States. The titles axed by the OTT giant include The Crew, Country Comfort, Mr. Iglesias and Bonding. While Katherine McPhee’s Country Comfort and Kevin James’ The Crew only had a single season run, Bonding is being cancelled after two seasons and Mr. Iglesias is coming to an end after three seasons, as per a report by Variety.

Out of these, The Crew was the most popular one since it features Kevin James, who is best known for his role in The King of Queens. There are also reports that Kevin James has already signed a development deal with Netflix to create a single camera comedy series for the streamer. He will serve as both the producer and star of the show.

Others from the cancelled series are also coming back to the streaming platform. Boyle, creator of the show Bonding, which has a two-season run on Netflix also has inked a development deal with the platform for new shows, while Gabriel Iglesias is scheduled to shoot a third stand-up special to be streamed on Netflix.

While Netflix has cancelled these comedy series, they already have plans for other comedy shows that will hit the platform soon, such as a one-hour comedy variety special starring Will Smith and another workplace comedy series from Mindy Kaling, Elaine Ko and Jeanie Buss based on the LA Lakers’ front office. Apart from these comedy shows, Netflix had also cancelled a few bigger and popular series this year including the superhero drama Jupiter’s Legacy The Irregulars and Jamie Foxx starrer Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!
