The streaming giant Netflix has announced a new special with Oprah Winfrey, where the host will have a sit down with one of the great actresses, Viola Davis. The episode is planned to celebrate the life and works of the actress.
Davis is the first African-American to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting, with an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards, under her belt. She has also won a Golden Globe. She is known for her performance as a 1960s housemaid in the 2011 comedy-drama The Help. The actress was recently seen in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Sandra Bullock's Netflix movie, The Unforgivable.
The special sit-down episode Oprah + Viola will celebrate Davis’s new memoir, Finding Me, where she will be seen talking about her childhood, facing extreme poverty and growing up to be one of the most celebrated actresses and winning an Oscar. The special will be 48 minutes long and will also cover how she made peace after troubling young adulthood.
The OTT player took to social media to announce the special episode. Check out their post on Instagram, which they share with Opray Winfrey.
Tara Montgomery and Terry Wood serve as executive producers on the show with Brian Piotrowicz as the co-executive producer. The show will be out on April 22.
Meanwhile, Davis has quite a few projects in store for 2022. She is working on The Woman King, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. It is based on the true story of the Kingdom of Dahomey in Africa. She will also be seen in an anthology series, titled, The First Lady. She will be seen playing the role of the former first lady, Michelle Obama.
