Neru, the acclaimed courtroom drama which hit the big screens in December 2023, emerged as one of the all-time biggest successes of Malayalam cinema. The Jeethu Joseph directorial finally marked superstar Mohanlal’s grand comeback to the success track, after a string of disappointing outings. Neru earned immense love from Malayalam cinema audiences with its strong content and performances and broke quite a few box office records.

Now, the Mohanlal-starrer which is nearing the end of its theatrical run, is getting ready for its grand OTT release. Along with Malayalam, the Jeethu Joseph directorial is expected to be streaming in four more languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

The superstar, who has also been considered one of the finest acting talents of Indian cinema, delivered a memorable performance as Adv. Vijayamohan in Neru. The veteran actor astonished the audiences with his intricate portrayal of a senior advocate, his inner turmoil, and insecurities, to near perfection. It has been a pleasure for Malayalam cinema audiences to watch Mohanlal, the actor on celluloid after so long.

A powerful courtroom drama

The biggest plus point of Neru is that the movie stays true to its genre. As director Jeethu Joseph stated before the release, the Mohanlal-starrer won hearts with its almost realistic portrayal of court proceedings. Most importantly, the film discussed an important topic from the survivor’s point of view and made a strong statement. The movie never ever reduces itself to yet another star vehicle. Instead, it emerged as a very well-made film which is backed by a strong script.

Anaswara Rajan as Sara

The young actress delivered the finest performance so far in Neru, as the blind sculptor named Sara. Anaswara Rajan made Sara believable and relatable with her nuanced portrayal of the character, with the right balance of emotions. She took the audience through the various emotions of her character with her sincere act. Especially, Anaswara’s performance in the exceptional climax of the Jeethu Joseph directorial won many hearts.

Neru features a stellar supporting cast including Siddique, Jagadeesh, Priya Mani, KB Ganesh Kumar, Sree Dhanya, Nandhu, Santhi Mayadevi, Sankar Induchoodan, Kalesh Ramanand, Harikrishnan, Aditi Ravi, and many others.
