Mohanlal's Neru is a clear winner at the box office, this Christmas. On Sunday (December 24), the movie registered its biggest single-day collections so far.
Neru, the courtroom drama that stars Mohanlal in the lead role, has emerged as the surprise hit of this Christmas season. The Jeethu Joseph directorial, which was released without a massive pre-release hype, has successfully dethroned the Prabhas starrer Salaar at the Kerala box office, when it completed the first 4 days of its release. As per the latest reports, Neru has registered its biggest single day collection on the fourth day of its release, thanks to the extraordinary reviews, word-of-mouth publicity, and special shows.
Neru 4 days box office collections
The courtroom drama, which marked the fifth onscreen collaboration of Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, has surpassed its release day collections on its first Sunday (December 23, 2023) at the box office. The movie, which reportedly had 150 extra shows across the state on Sunday, has made a total gross collection of Rs. 3.62 crore just from the Kerala box office. Trade experts suggest that Neru has crossed the 11-crore mark just with its Kerala collections, and has made a total collection of Rs. 11.91 crore within the first 4 days of its release.
Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that the Mohanlal starrer performed extraordinarily on all overseas releasing centers and has crossed its Kerala collections at the overseas box office. The rest of the India collection has also witnessed a major rise, on Saturday and Sunday. In that case, the Mohanlal starrer can cross the 16-crore mark within the first 4 days of its release, at the worldwide box office. Neru dethrones Salaar at Kerala box office
Interestingly, Neru has also dethroned Salaar, the recently released Prabhas starrer at the Kerala box office, on its fourth day of release. The increasing word-of-mouth publicity and extra shows across the state are clearly helping the Mohanlal starrer. The Prashanth Neel directorial which stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, in turn, has been suffering in the state with the average performance of its badly dubbed Malayalam version. Salaar reportedly witnessed a major drop in its Kerala box office collections on Sunday, because of the same.
