Neetu Kapoor claims she worked on films with Rishi Kapoor as a ‘favour'

Neetu Kapoor is scheduled to make her Bollywood comeback after seven years with Raj Mehta's comedy-drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo. In a recent interview, the actress said she worked on films with her late husband-actor Rishi Kapoor as a "favour."

The couple have worked together on movies like Kabhi Kabhie, Khel Khel Mein, Zinda Dil, Amar Akbar and Anthony, Beshram, Love Aaj Kal, and Do Dooni Chaar.

While talking to news agency PTI, Neetu referred to herself as a "chamchi (sycophant)" to her late husband and explained that she worked with him onscreen only to please him.

"There were films that I did with my husband and I was like a chamchi, he would say come and do it. I did not do it off my own will. Jug Jugg Jeeyo is my will. I was doing (all that) trying to make my husband happy. Like, one shot in Love Aaj Kal, then with Do Dooni Chaar some actress didn’t want to be a mother of two older children, I don’t have those hang-ups. They requested and I did it. So, I was doing him a favour, not that I wanted to do (sic),” she explained.

Neetu also spoke about being advised by her children Ranbir and Riddhima to stay occupied after Rishi passed away due to leukaemia in 2020, which is why she took up the role in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Before this her last outing was Besharam, which featured both Rishi and Ranbir.

She wrapped the family comedy, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani, in November last year. The Dharma Productions movie also stars Maniesh Paul and YouTuber Prajakta Koli in her debut role.

Jug Jug Jeeyo is scheduled to be released in cinemas on June 24.
