Neena Gupta revealed that the climax of the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series is her favourite.
Manju Devi, the wife of the village pradhan, is not the main character in Panchayat. But she is one of the many reasons that contributed to the success of Jitendra Kumar's online series. Neena Gupta, who plays Manju Devi, says her enthusiasm for the writing outweighed her desire for greater screen time. During an interaction with Mid Day, the actor revealed that she loved the screenplay when she was offered this series, but she quickly realised she had a small part.
So Gupta was dissatisfied, but her role progressively expanded. Manju Devi is a homemaker who is content with her position. The final sequence of the first season was her favourite. Because there are five seasons planned, Gupta explains that her character's evolution will be gradual. The actor is predicting that her role will mature in the forthcoming seasons.
The second season of the Amazon Prime Video comedy will once again focus on the everyday exploits of Phulera's inhabitants as seen through the eyes of Kumar's panchayat secretary. When it debuted in April 2020, the lighthearted meal charmed hearts. The veteran actor shared that the simplicity and hilarity touched people's hearts. There is no way one can go wrong if they deliver simple stories in an intriguing way.
Since Badhaai Ho (2018), Gupta's career has seen a comeback, and she is happy for the opportunities that have come her way. People still prefer to write roles for young actors, but the actor is delighted she is getting a variety of age-appropriate roles. She claims that approaching distinct parts comes naturally to her. The outfit is important to her. The actor is completely immersed in the persona once she is dressed up. As an actor, Gupta adheres to two rules. She has to mean what she says and hear what her co-actors say.
Season two of Panchayat will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 20, 2022.
