Neelavelicham, which has Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal and Roshan Mathew, is set to hit theatres soon
Before Neelavelicham had gone on floors last year, director Aashiq Abu had told us that the movie, which is based on Vaikom Mohammed Basheer’s eponymous novel, will be his version of the events mentioned. The first track of the film points exactly to that.
Aashiq took to his social media page on Tuesday to announce that the first track from the upcoming movie will be Anuraga Madhuchashakam. For the uninitiated, the song also featured in the 1964 movie Bhargavi Nilayam and was composed by MS Baburaj with S Janaki rendering it. P Bhaskaran had penned the lyrics for the track from the horror film, which starred Prem Nazir, Madhu and Vijaya Nirmala.
The upcoming version will have KS Chitra’s vocals with Bijibal and Rex Vijayan as the composers. The filmmaker shared a byte of what to expect from the song, which will drop online at 10 am on January 18. The song will also feature Rima Kallingal dancing to steps, choreographed by Sreejith Dancity.
Neelavelicham, which is gearing to release soon in theatres, also has Tovino Thomas, Roshan Mathew and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast. In an earlier interview, Tovino said that he was blessed to be part of a story written by Basheer.
“To get to play a character in a film based on his work is a huge blessing and I don’t think it’s an opportunity that a lot of people get. I did a lot of research by myself and we also had a workshop,” he said. “My main challenge was to perform well and I put in a great amount of effort for the movie.”
Roshan Mathew too had earlier told us that he had never done anything like Neelavelicham in his career. “The language used in the movie is something that was taken from Basheerian literature. Most of our efforts have been to tell the story as honestly as possible. We have tried to ensure that the effort we have put in doesn’t stand out on the screen,” he explained.
