The Santhosh Ananddram directorial was slated to release on August 5
Director Santhosh Ananddram’s second film with Hombale Films is Raghavendra Stores, which has Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh in the lead. The production house had announced way back in early June that the film would be in theatres on August 5. The teaser of the film had been released on April 13, hours before the banner’s big-ticket KGF: Chapter 2 hit theatres.
Since the release date announcement, though, there has been no word from the team about the film. In the absence of any form of promotion, the buzz in industry circles was that the film’s release would be postponed, but there was no official confirmation on this, until today, that is. A little while ago, the official handle of Hombale Films posted, “Due to unforeseen circumstances and bloomy monsoon your sumptuous meal is a bit delayed,” as a response to its earlier release date announcement.
There is no new date mentioned with the post, but fans reckon that this was a smart move on the part of the banner, given that August 5 was only a week after Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited 3D fantasy-action-adventure film Vikrant Rona, and a week ahead of Yogaraj Bhat’s Gaalipata 2. Sticking to an August 5 release plan would have been detrimental for the Jaggesh film, as it would, in all likelihood, not get requisite number of theatres within a week of Vikrant Rona, and could lose them to Gaalipata 2 shortly after.
The slice-of-life comedy by Santhosh is a typical Jaggesh film, if the teaser is anything to go by. The teaser, which is a character introduction for Jaggesh’s Hayavadana, has him playing a cook, with great culinary skills, who remains unmarried in his 40s, something his co-workers rib him about. It almost feels like Jaggesh's version of 40-Year-Old Virgin. The film is Santhosh’s first collaboration with Jaggesh and stars Shwetha Srivatsav in the lead.
