The Shyam Singha Roy actor is teaming up with Keerthy Suresh for the drama directed by first-time filmmaker Srikanth Odela
Some of the biggest stars in the Indian film industry made for terrific villains/antagonists in the beginning of their careers. The fact that they were hungry to prove their mettle in a variety of avatars brought out the best in them. However, this desire to experiment trickles down with time as actors get trapped in an image and try hard to play safe. Actor Nani though has tried to channelise the villain in him occasionally in films like Jenda Pai Kapiraju and V amidst his regular-hero roles. His next, Dasara, with debutant Srikanth Odela, too will have him trying something different.
Reportedly, Nani will play an anti-hero in the film with several grey shades. The actor is apparently growing a beard and trying out a different hairstyle for the role as well, which will have him mouth dialogues in rustic Telangana slang. In a recent press meet, he has also added the film, set amid a coal mine backdrop, is slated to be the highest budgeted project in his career and that it would be made on a grand scale.
A report in Telangana Today also suggests the Shyam Singha Roy actor will commence shooting in Ramagundam (Peddapalli district) but is waiting to bide some time owing to the surge in Omicron cases across the Telugu states. While there several reports that Samantha has been approached to play a key role in the film, Keerthy Suresh is cast as the female lead. Dasara is the second time that Nani and Keerthy Suresh will be collaborating after their super hit Nenu Local.
Sudhakar Cherukuri produces Dasara under Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Navin Nooli, who also edited the actor's Shyam Singha Roy recently, has been roped in to the project oo. Sathyan Sooryan ISC cranks the camera for the same. Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Zarina Wahab, and others essay supporting roles. More details about the project are awaited.
