The trailer of Ramkumar Subbaraman's IPC 376 had released more than a year ago. The makers of the horror thriller have now announced that the film, starring Nandita Swetha in the lead, will hit the screens on October 28. According to Ramkumar, the film bankrolled by S Prabhakar, will be released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
In a chat with OTTplay, he says that though the movie is releasing a week before Deepavali when biggies are hitting the screens, the makers are confident about the film hitting the bull's eye. Billed as a horror flick, the movie, he says has ample elements of humour and action as well.
He says, "Though the film has been lying in the cans for an year, we never had any pressure to release it on OTT platforms. We were waiting for the right time to make it to the big screens. The success of Doctor and the initial response for Rudra Thandavam has proved that audience will come to theatres if the content and promotion are engaging. The USP of IPC 376 is five action sequences pulled off by Nandita Swetha. We have ensured that the film is devoid of some of the usual elements seen in horror movies."
Super Subbarayan, who has composed fight sequences, has also acted in a pivotal role in the movie. Madhusudhan Rao of Goli Soda (streaming on Zee5) fame, Aryan of Thirupachi (streaming on MX Player) fame, Marimuthu and Mahanadhi Shankar will also be seen playing crucial characters in the film.
"Apart from regular commercial elements IPC 376 which was shot in Chennai, Yelagiri and Kodaikkanal, will have a message as well towards its end, something which is relevant in today's times. We had wrapped up the film before the first lockdown and its post-production works happened last year," Ramkumar says, adding that an announcement on its streaming platform will be made soon.
