Namma Flix's repository includes a good mix of classic films of the past and a slew of new releases featuring the current breed of talent
The advent of OTT or streaming platforms has allowed for linguistic borders to be gradually blurred out with respect to entertainment. Films of all regions, languages and cultures have found ample representation on OTT and the convenience of the medium has also enabled content of all forms and sizes to thrive alongside. And yet, one finds Kannada content to be largely absent in this ethos with small and independent filmmakers finding it increasingly tough to land buyers for other projects. While the same problem exists across film industries, it seems a bit more amplified in the case of the Kannada Film Industry.
In this vein comes an enterprising attempt named Namma Flix, a subscription-based streaming service that is dedicated completely to hosting Kannada content. Debuting in April 2020, Namma Flix has been steadily increasing its repository of films which includes a good mix of classic films of the past and a slew of new releases featuring the current breed of talent. So, if you have been on the lookout for engaging Kannada content then your search stops at Namma Flix and in order to give you a taste of what it has on offer, we have put together a list of five films that you could watch on the platform.

Golibar (1993): Action, Thriller
Dynamic Star Devaraj starred in a number of 'offbeat' roles in the 1980s and 1990s and while a majority of them saw him in negative shades, films Golibar highlighted his all-round acting prowess. Director Shivamani's 1993 film is a gripping action thriller that marries the conventions of the cop movie with the relevant politics of the time; Golibar also boasts Nada Brahma Hamsalekha's soundtrack and a solid principal cast including Arundathi Nag, Suresh Heblikar, Srinivasamurthy, Sudheer and others.
Naagarahaavu (1971) - Romance, Melodrama
Kannada cinema, by all means, can be bifurcated as 'pre' and 'post' Naagarahaavu days and the reasons are myriad. For starters, the film has the legendary Puttanna Kanagal at his creative and experimental best as he fuses three of T.R. Subba Rao or TaRaSu's best-known novels into one epic melodrama. Vishnuvardhan attained stardom with his role as the protagonist Ramachari and so did actresses Aarathi and Shubha for their performances as Alamelu and Margaret (respectively). And of course, Rebel Star Ambareesh's iconic dialogue 'ayy bulbul, mathadakilva' still echoes as loud as ever among cinema aficionados.
