Nakaab: Ankita Anthony on how her role on the web series echoed her real-life job

The MX Player thriller series stars Mallika Sherawat, Esha Gupta and Gautam Rode in pivotal roles.

Nakaab actress Ankita Anthony may have experienced a bit of déjà vu while essaying her role in the thriller web series. The real-life business manager of Mallika Sherawat also takes on quite a similar role on the show, which features Sherawat alongside Esha Gupta and Gautam Rode.

On the MX Player show, Anthony dons the role of the PR person of Sherawat’s character. In a conversation with Telly Chakkar, she talked about how she landed the role. The show’s director had noticed her fulfilling the duties of Sherawat’s manager and had offered her the role, seeing how closely it matched her work.

Anthony, who immediately agreed to the proposal, also recalls how excited she was when Sherawat had referred to her as a ‘co-star’. She also had nothing but good things to say of her client turned co-star, calling her one of the finest and most intellectual Bollywood stars.

Regarding her future ventures, she says that she wants to essay a variety of roles on the silver screen, in particular negative ones. She had previously done a cameo role on the &TV series Badho Bahu. In addition to acting and managing, Antony is also a skilled dancer.

Directed by Soumik Sen, Nakaab tells the story of a policewoman and her partner who are charged with investigating the mysterious death of an actress. As the two delve into the case, they realise that there is more to what meets the eye. Their suspicions are heightened when a sophisticated TV producer, played by Sherawat, close to the actress starts to exhibit some strange behaviour.
