Naga Chaitanya's stunning transformation for Sekhar Kammula's Love Story

It has been an endless wait for the cast, crew of director Sekhar Kammula's next release, Love Story, to make it to the theatres. Starring Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, the romance unfolds in the backdrop of rural Telangana, revolving around the life of a struggling zumba coach and an engineer with a passion for dance. The film faced multiple postponements since 2020 owing to the pandemic, had several reshoots and is finally getting ready for a wide release on September 24. Incidentally, this is the first film where Naga Chaitanya is speaking the Telangana slang.

Right from Ye Maya Chesave to Manam and Premam, Naga Chaitanya has largely been part of urban romances where his Telugu didn't have to talk in any particular regional accent or slang. In the trailer of Love Story released earlier today though, the actor, cast as Revanth, has sprung a surprise and was at his fluent best playing a youngster in rural Telangana with ease. He appears to have made a sincere effort in his transformation to get into the skin of the role, right from the body language to his authentic Telangana slang and effortlessly shaking a leg with Sai Pallavi.

As an actor too, Naga Chaitanya looks confident more than ever and has genuinely tried to tap the performer in him minus all the sophistication we've seen in his earlier outings, at least going by the first impression of the trailer. Talking about the film on Rana Daggubati's talk show No. 1 Yaari, earlier this year, the actor had said, "I always wanted to be a part of Sekhar Kammula's film. I've noticed that all actors in his films perform very well, regardless of what they have done in the past. I jumped at the opportunity when I got Love Story. I was joking with Sekhar (sir) about casting me as a zumba coach alongside a dancer as accomplished as Sai Pallavi."

Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi have impressive on-chemistry. The trailer's best parts showcase the unusual equation between Naga Chaitanya and Easwari Rao - the character gets beaten up by his mother not once, but twice. There is no debate about the fact that the actor's career-best performance was for Manam. It'll be interesting to see if Love Story turns out better. The actor is next doing Thank You with Manam director Vikram Kumar besides a special appearance in Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. He's in talks to appear for a horror web show as well and another cop drama with Tharun Bhascker.
