Naga Chaitanya talks about how he got his role in Laal Singh Chaddha ahead of Vijay Sethupathi

Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump, is set to release next week.

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is a movie fans all around the country are eagerly waiting to catch in theatres. Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya is also set to make his Bollywood debut with the movie and his involvement is cause for great excitement within the South Indian moviegoers. The actor has now opened up about how he got the role in the remake ahead of Vijay Sethupathi, who was reportedly going to star in it.

Talking to Pinkvilla, Chaitanya said, “I was only told that there were some date problems, and that’s why the project didn’t work out with Vijay sir. But yea, that was never really the concern because from the time I came in, the character was designed completely around the sensibilities of where I come from.”

Talking about how his character was conceived for his convenience, Chaitanya said that his character is a Telugu boy from Andhra and that the makers even included some Telugu words in the way he speaks Hindi. He further added that all these aspects made him feel comfortable and that he never really overlapped with Vijay Sethupathi anywhere and so there were no discussions about it.

Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie is the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ 1994 classic, Forrest Gump. The movie follows a young and innocent boy who grows up into a successful man, while accidentally being a part of some historic moments. The remake also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.

Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the coming-of-age movie will hit theatres on August 11, clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan.
