Kalki 2898 AD has become a smash hit at the box office. It has officially made Rs 825 crore worldwide and is still going super strong. Nag Ashwin is the man behind the film and has opened up about the movie for the first time after its release.

Nag Ashwin on casting Prabhas in a fun role in Kalki 2898 AD

When he was asked why he cast Prabhas in a fun role, and this aspect has upset the fans a bit, Nag Ashwin said, "I was sick and tired of seeing Prabhas in serious roles for the last few years. He is only doing action, and Prabhas has a very fun side to him, which he seldom discloses. So, I thought it would be a great idea to showcase Prabhas in a fun avatar in Kalki. His role gets bigger and more serious in the sequel, and I hope fans will not have any issues when Kallki 2 comes out".

Nag Ashwin is being hailed as one of the top directors for taking Telugu cinema to the next level. Nag Ashwin says that there is a lot of responsibility on him to deliver with sequel, and there is a lot of work to be done before taking the film on the floors.

Nag Ashwin was also asked about the dull emotions in Kalki 2898 AD, and he did not shy away from the question and said, "I know that a few emotions did not work the way they should have, and it was because we slipped the film into two parts. But now that the world-building is done, it is time for solid emotions and actions to take over,".

Kalki has collected over Rs 150 crore in Telugu, and it is the biggest non-Baahubali hit at the Telugu cinema. The occupancy on the weekend has once again doubled as Kalki will touch the coveted Rs 200 crore in Telugu cinema.

Vyjayanthi Movies produced Kalki 2898 AD, which also had Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The likes of Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Gopal Varma, Rajamouli, and Mrunal Thakur were seen in cameos in this film.
