Nadikar Thilakam: Shooting for the Tovino Thomas-starrer starts in Kochi

Director Jean Paul Lal's Nadikar Thilakam also has Soubin Shahir and Anoop Menon as part of the cast

After his film 2018: Everyone is a Hero made an earning of over ₹200 crore, Tovino Thomas is now working on his next project. The actor has started shooting for director Jean Paul Lal’s Nadikar Thilakam at Kakkanad Sheraton Hotel, Kochi. Touted to be a commercial entertainer, the movie follows the life of an actor, who is dealing with family problems, depression and addiction.

Also featuring Bhavana, Anoop Menon, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir, Lal, Sreenath Bhasi and Veena Nandakumar in key roles, the story is written by Suvin S Somasekharan.

Nadikar Thilakam marks Soubin’s first outing with Tovino. In an earlier interview with OTTplay Suvin - who wrote the Joju George- starrer Star - said that contrary to its title, the movie has nothing to do with cinema. Tovino recently shared a vibrant poster of the movie on social media. In it, he looks stylish and enchanting. Sharing the posters along with him, the director - who is known his films like Driving License and Honey Bee - wrote, “Lights, Camera, Nadikar Thilakam, We are thrilled to announce that, much-awaited shoot for Nadikar Thilakam will begin on July 11, 2023!”. Mythri Movie Makers, which bankrolled superhit films like Pushpa: The Rise and Janatha Garage, is making their entry into Malayalam cinema through Nadikar Thilakam. The film will be made on an estimated budget of ₹40 crore.

Bhavana, who came back to Malayalam cinema with the Sharafudeen-starrer Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn is essaying the female lead in this movie. Tovino and Bhavana had earlier shared screen space in Koothara, a Srinath Rajendran film with Mohanlal in the lead.

Ratheesh Raj has been roped in as the editor for Nadikar Thilakam while camera work will be handled by Alby Antony. Yakzan Gary Pereira is composing the music and Prashanth Madhav is in charge of the art department. Filming is likely to span over 120 days, with shooting happening at multiple locations.

Meanwhile, Tovino has completed the shooting of his ambitious project Ajayante Randam Moshanam and the film is expected to hit the theatres this year. He has also announced another project, titled Identity, in which Trisha will play the female lead. The movie is touted to be an action thriller by the makers of Forensic.
