Nadikar Thilakam: Balu Varghese in a stylish avatar in new poster from the Tovino Thomas film

The comedy drama Nadikar Thilakam is Lal Jr.'s sixth directorial project, his first with Tovino Thomas, and his fifth collaboration with actor Balu Varghese

The shoot of Tovino Thomas’ upcoming comedy drama Nadikar Thilakam, which is helmed by Jean Paul Lal, alias Lal Jr. will be wrapping up soon. To celebrate actor Balu Varghese's birthday and his pivotal role in the film, the makers unveiled a character poster earlier today on their social media platforms, introducing his role. The actor plays a character named Lenin in the Soubin Shahir-Tovino Thomas starrer.

About Balu Varghese's character

Balu Varghese looks effortlessly stylish as he is captured in a casual dance step. He sports a trendy look and has on a pair of black shades in the poster. From the look, it is evident that the actor portrays a lively and entertaining character in the film. This look of his is reminded of his character from the film Honey Bee 2. Balu, known for his witty roles, has never failed to amaze with his comical characters. Whether the actor will be essaying his typical role or if he will take on a new character is something to wait and watch for.  Nevertheless, we must say that we quite dig Balu in this avatar.

What is Nadikar Thilakam about?

The comedy drama is Lal Jr.'s sixth directorial project and his first collaboration with Tovino Thomas, who plays David Padikkal, a movie star. The movie explores unexpected events in David's career and his struggles to overcome them. Interestingly, Tovino will share screen space with Soubin Shahir for the first time in this film.

The film stars Tovino and Soubin in lead roles, along with Anoop Menon, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, Lal, and Balu Varghese in supporting roles. Suvin S Somashekharan is the scriptwriter, Ratheesh Raj is the editor, and Alby Antony is the cinematographer. The film is bankrolled by Tollywood production house Mythri Movie Makers, known for successful films like Pushpa: The Rise and Janatha Garage. With an estimated budget of ₹40 crore, Nadikar Thilakam marks the production house's entry into Mollywood.

Tovino Thomas’ other projects

Meanwhile, Tovino will begin working on the high-budget action film ‘Identity’ that is being directed by Forensic's Anas Khan and Akhil Paul. The film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Mandira Bedi, and Vinay Rai in lead roles. The Minnal Murali star is also gearing up for his upcoming period film, Ajayante Randam Moshanam, in which he has three roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres in early 2024.
