Dhyan Sreenivasan and Aju Varghese came together earlier this year for Vijesh Panathur & Unni Vellora's Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna, a quirky comedy set in North Kerala about two political rivals and their respective wedding desires. Billed as a film that is reminiscent of the Malayalam classic comedies of the '80s and '90s, Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna is centred around an enterprising premise that features satire, drama and humour but despite all the promise, it was not able to live up to the expectations.

While debutants Vijesh Panathur & Unni Vellora did manage to evoke the said nostalgia through the setting and the storyline, critics noted that the lacklustre screenplay ultimately lets them down. Not all jokes land and the comedic contrivances, too, don't work entirely either, claimed the general consensus.

That said, one would still categorize Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna as a 'one-time-watch' that has more than a few bright moments on offer. For those who enjoy the laidbackness and charm of a rustic, small-town Malayalam comedy, the film is certainly worth a try and it will soon be available to stream on OTT.

Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna is set to premiere on the HR OTT platform on October 23.

Vilas Kumar and Simi Murali Kunnumpurath serve as the producers with Arun Muraleedharan scoring the songs and Sankar Sharma handling the background score. Faisal Ali is the film's cinematographer.
