Alencier Ley Lopez is criticised for the sexist comments he made during the 2023 Kerala State Film Awards ceremony
Actor Alencier Ley Lopez has been facing a lot of criticism from the film fraternity as well as from those outside the industry for his ‘female figurine’ remark at the 2023 Kerala State Awards ceremony. Speaking about the controversy, actor-director Dhyan Sreenivasan - whose film Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna is currently running in the theatres - said that Alencier’s comments seemed like a ‘publicity stunt’.
During a press conference held after the release of Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna Dhyan said that Alencier’s remarks made him look like a show-off. According to the Kunjiramayanam actor, Alencier should have declined the invitation to the awards ceremony if he was not interested in it.

“Alencier is a friend and more like a brother to me. Some people enjoy showing off and they try to steal the spotlight. I felt he attended the award ceremony to make a controversial statement. It appeared to be nothing more than a publicity stunt,” he further said. When asked about his stand on whether or not any disciplinary action should be taken against Alencier, Dhyan said that it is not his but the system’s responsibility to decide on that.
