Lyricist Chandrabose and Composer MM Keeravani were honored on the stage
S Rajamouli’s RRR has created history on the 95th Academy Awards ceremony stage. The film’s song Naatu Naatu grabbed the Oscar in the Original Song category. Lyricist Chandrabose and Composer MM Keeravani were honored on the stage. The entire country was elated at this success.
Meanwhile, this song has a bong connection also. The song's Hindi version Nacho Nacho is also equally popular. That version was written by a Bengali girl, Riya Mukherjee. Riya is also elated at the win. Another Bengali, Shaunak Sen lost in the category of the best documentary. However, another Bengali name became indirectly attached to the oscar-winning song!
Every time Ramcharan and NTR Junior dance on the screen with Naatu Naatu, Indian fans go berserk. Discussion about the song increased after the film was released. This song, sung by Rahul Sipliganj and Kaala Bhairava, garnered lots of awards and acclaim in the international arena. But does anybody know the meaning of the Telugu song?
The meaning of the Telugu word Naatu is crude or rustic. Chandrabose used the word to mean unpolished. In an earlier interview, he said, “My inspiration came from my memories of growing up in a village.” The film shows that Ramcharan and NTR Junior, the two village boys, are harassed by the British police and labeled as barbaric and uncultured. They retaliated by dancing to their folk song and won everyone's hearts.
During the release of the film, director Rajamouli said in an interview that he was looking for a song that would win the audience's hearts. He wanted to portray rural culture as opposed to British culture. At the ceremony, the entire Hollywood gave a standing ovation to the song. Lady Gaga lost to Keeravani-Chandrabose, and yet she was the first to clap after the announcement.
