The comic caper helmed by Suraaj will hit the screens on December 9
A still from the movie
One of the small budget films which Tamil movie buffs have been waiting for a long time is Naai Sekar Returns, starring Vadivelu in the lead. The movie helmed by Suraaj is touted as the comeback of the legendary comedian. The project bankrolled by Lyca Productions is hitting the screens on December 9.
Billed as a comic caper, it was initially titled Naai Sekar, but to the team's shock, makers of a film which has Sathish in the lead, had already registered the title. The movie was released in theatres earlier this year.
The makers have now unveiled the trailer of Naai Sekar Returns. The two-minute promo video has Vaigai Puyal coming up with one-liners and different expressions, but they hardly entertain you. The likes of Anandraj, Rao Ramesh, Manobala, Munishkanth and Redin Kingsley are seen in the trailer, but none of them leave an impact.
The movie revolves around Naai Sekar, a dog kidnapper, who gives sleepless nights to pet owners in Chennai. How he continues to run his business despite dog lovers planning to finish him off forms the rest of the story. Santhosh Narayanan has composed music for the film; two songs from the movie have been unveiled recently.
The film is a spin-off of Thalai Nagaram which was released in 2006. The Sundar C-starrer was directed by Suraj, and Vadivelu's comic sequences were quite popular. Shivani Narayanan and Sivaangi Krishnakumar are others who will be seen essaying notable characters in Naai Sekar Returns.
Netflix had bagged the movie's digital rights recently, and its OTT premiere is likely to happen in the first week of January 2023. Vadivelu is currently busy with Chandramukhi 2 which is also being produced by Lyca Productions.
