Naa Girlfrienduu from Nootokka Jillala Andagaadu - A story of baldness, a guy's wig and his new girlfriend

If one took note of song picturisation trends in Telugu films lately, it's natural to deduce that our filmmakers and composers are not preferring lip sync numbers as much as they did in the past. Though we still have the occasional dance number or the imaginary duet, most of our songs have visually become a bunch of montages that offer a picture of the character's journey minus the flight of imagination. Change is indeed inevitable with the passage of time. We're reminded of the same as we watch the enjoyable number from Srinivas Avasarala's Nootokka Jillala Andagaadu, Naa Girlfrienduu, released earlier today.

Naa Girlfrienduu, simply put, is a story of a bald man, his attractive wig and a new girlfriend. The song charts the journey of a middle-aged man and a young girl falling in love with conversations over bike rides across the city, long phone calls while daydreaming about each other at work and blushing at the very mention of their name in their households. By the end of the two-and-a-half-minute-long number, the bald man gets a taste of reality after he tries to dry his hair after a head bath (without wearing his wig).

Composed by Shakthikanth Karthick, Naa Girlfrienduu has a chirpy, spirited vibe to it. What would have been a melody about the romantic chapter in the lives of the boy and the girl, transforms into a fast-paced number that depicts the excitement and the madness of love with Anudeep Dev's energetic rendition. Bhaskarabhatla's lyrics are simple, trendy and to the point without beating around the bush too much. At the same time, this is a song that should work better in the film than as a standalone number.

Avasarala Srinivas and Ruhani Sharma play the lead pair in Nootokka Jillala Andagaadu, a film written by the lead actor himself and directed by Rachakonda Vidyasagar. The film has been produced by Shirish, Rajeev Reddy Yeduguru, and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi and is presented under Sri Venkateswara Creations and First Frame Entertainments and SVC-FFE banners by Dil Raju and Krish. Though the film wrapped its shoot a long time ago, the makers are finally releasing it across theatres this weekend on September 3.
