The announcement of My Dear Bootham with Prabhu Deva in the lead was a surprise for movie buffs as the actor-choreographer-filmmaker sported a never-before seen look in the movie. He plays a genie in the film which has been helmed by N Ragavan.

Master Ashwanth and Ramya Nambeesan play important characters in the project which was released on July 15 in theatres. Ramesh P Pillai has bankrolled the movie under the banner of Abhishek Films. The film, which was released along with Gargi and Iravin Nizhal, opened to mixed response at the box office.

The story of My Dear Bootham revolves around a student who struggles with a stuttering problem. How a genie comes to his rescue out of the blue and changes his life for good forms the rest of the story. The on-screen chemistry between Prabhu Deva and Master Ashwanth was one of the appreciated elements in the movie.

However, the generic plot and okayish screenplay did not go down well with the audience despite the movie having a few enjoyable moments. San Lokesh and UK Senthil Kumar have handled editing and cinematography respectively for the film which has music composed by D Imman.

My Dear Bootham will start streaming on Zee5 from September 2. The digital platform had announced the news of bagging the film's OTT rights much before its theatrical release. GN Murugan has composed action sequences for the movie while Sridhar has helmed dance sequences.

The film was the second release for Prabhu Deva this year after Theal which hit the screens in January. He is likely to end up having four releases this year, if everything goes as per plan. He currently has around half-a-dozen films in his kitty.
