Kay Kay Menon's web series Murshid opened to a positive reception from critics and viewers. Directed by Shravan Tiwari, the web show premiered recently (August 30) on ZEE5. It is a gangster drama set in Mumbai. Apart from Kay Kay, the series stars Zakir Hussain and Tanuj Virwani in pivotal roles. As for Menon, he essays the character of a mafia don Murshid Pathan in the ZEE5 series. The latest promo of Murshid highlights his rivalry with another mafia don.

The promo begins with Kay Kay Menon delivering a hard-hitting dialogue as Murshid Pathan. It is followed by Zakir Hussain aka Farid saying that Murshid has challenged and attacked him. Farid feels the only solution to this matter is Junaid's death. Later, when Murshid informs Farid that he has killed Ayub, he seems startled. The promo ends with Murshid accepting Farid's enmity.
Sharing the promo on Instagram, ZEE5 captioned its post, "Soch aur samajh ke daaire ki bahaar ki baat hai, yeh Pathan. Murshid ka khel abhi toh bass shuru hua hai! Murshid streaming now, only on ZEE5 (sic)."

Kay Kay Menon on playing the lead role
In an official statement, Kay Kay Menon opened up about playing the role of a mafia don Murshid Pathan in the Shravan Tiwari directorial. The actor said, "Portraying Murshid Pathan in this intense gangster thriller has been a thrilling experience. I’ve always been fascinated by complex characters."
The actor mentioned that Murshid is a former don-turned-philanthropist who is forced back into the criminal world to protect his loved ones. Back when the trailer was released, Kay Kay said it only hinted at the depth of his character's journey. In his opinion, Murshid is the tale of a father's sacrifice for his family.
