Maddock Films' Dinesh Vijan and Homi Adajania have established a great professional rapport over the years, having collaborated on five enterprising and equally unique projects thus far.

'Murder Mubarak', another intriguing mystery film, brings them back together for the sixth time and thanks to the eclectic cast including Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Karisma Kapoor and others, the project has already made the news. Adajania's frequent collaborators, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapoor, too, are part of the cast to make things all the more exciting.

The team has already completed the shoot and one may have come across the pictures from the wrap-up celebrations that emerged on social media a few months. This would then prompt the question of 'Murder Mubarak's release date and the latest buzz, as informed by a few reports, is that the makers are eyeing a direct OTT release for the film.

In fact, several known sources on social media have revealed that 'Murder Mubarak' will head straight to Netflix in all likelihood, except that an official word on the same is yet to be shared by the makers. Dinesh Vijan's recent endeavour 'Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga', which was released straight on Netflix in 2023, topped the charts as the most-viewed original film on the platform by beating the likes of 'RRR'. So, it seems quite plausible that the producer would strike another collaboration with the streamer.

And incidentally, Netflix has played host to not one but multiple top-billed Hindi filmmakers in the recent past, including Sujoy Ghost ('Jaane Jaan'), Vishal Bharadwaj ('Khufiya') and Zoya Akhtar ('The Archies'). It is slowly becoming apparent that the OTT could be the new or second home to mainstream Hindi cinema, with films of a certain tonality and scale likely to head straight to streaming in the near future.

'Murder Mubarak', on the other hand, marks Karishma Kapoor's return to the world of cinema following a gap of nearly 12 years. Her sister and fellow actor attracted a lot of praise for her OTT debut performance in 'Jaane Jaan', so one would be keen to know how she fares in the new waters. More updates to follow.
