Prithviraj Sukumaran said that he is hoping to begin the shoot of Empuraan by the start of 2023
If not for the pandemic, Empuraan, the sequel of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut Lucifer, would have been canned by now. However, the delay due to the pandemic and its travel restrictions as well as the other pending commitments of both Mohanlal and Prithviraj has forced the team to begin the shoot of the film only in 2023.
In a recent press meet held during the promotions of Prithviraj’s upcoming release Jana Gana Mana, the actor confirmed that the movie will go on floors only by the beginning of next year. Further, in an interview with The Cue, the actor revealed that he has asked Lucifer and Empuraan’s scriptwriter Murali Gopy to accompany him in Jordan during the shoot of Aadujeevitham.
Prithviraj flew to Algeria for the shoot of the Blessy directorial a few days ago. The actor is expected to shoot in the country for about 40 days before moving to Jordan for another month’s shoot. He said that Murali will be joining him in Jordan.
On the status of the project, the actor said in the interview that that the thread from the beginning to the end is ready, and that Murali has completed and narrated the first half. He is currently working on the second half, which Prithviraj is expected to listen to in Jordan in May.
The actor-director said that the reason Murali and he will be working on the movie in Jordan amid Aadujeevitham’s shoot is so that when he gets back from the shoot of the film, as a director he will know how to set up the project.
Prithviraj, meanwhile, has a long list of pending commitments he will complete before he starts work on Empuraan. As soon as he’s back, he is expected to begin shooting for Venu’s Kaapa and Jayan Nambiar’s Vilayath Buddha. He will also join the shoot of Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, co-starring Prabhas.
