Darbuka Siva, who has composed music for and acted in a few movies, surprised one and all when he had announced his directorial debut in 2020. Titled Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, the teen rom-com which is set in the 90s, has a bunch of debutant actors playing lead roles in it.

The movie's trailer, which offered a glimpse into its story, was unveiled a week ago. Amritha Mandarine, Purva Raghunath, Harish Kumar, Sharan Kumar, Rahul Kannan, Manjunath and Meetha Raghunath among others essay pivotal characters in the movie which has been produced by Sameer Bharat Ram under the banner of Super Talkies.

What's Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee all about?

The coming-of-age film revolves around the lives of a few Plus Two students who struggle between feelings for their special ones and pressure from their parents and teachers. Set in the 90s, the movie touches upon the various complex emotions teen students go through.

The shooting of the film was completed a couple of years ago in and around Chennai. Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee went on to win the Honourable Mention category at the New York Movie Awards. Siva won the Best Director award at the Art Film Awards, Macedonia, too. Thamarai, Keerthi and Kabeer Vasuki have penned lyrics for the songs in this campus drama.

When and where to watch Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee online?

The movie will have a direct-to-OTT release on Zee5 on January 21. Though the makers were keen on a theatrical release, they recently decided to opt the OTT way. Sujith Sarang and Sreejith Sarang have handled the project's cinematography and editing respectively.

Darbuka Siva, who debuted as an actor with Rajathandhiram (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), turned a music composer with Sasikumar's Kidaari (streaming on Jio Cinema and MX Player).
