Farhan Akhtar made an appearance in the fourth episode of Ms. Marvel, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
Ms. Marvel is the latest web series that has been dished out by Marvel Studios, and it has hit the right chords with the Indian fans even before its release. The show, which is the first time the MCU is following a Muslim superhero, also features Farhan Akhtar in an important role.
The filmmaker was quizzed about his role in the show and whether or not he had actually been killed off by the makers after a short yet engaging spell. “I am not allowed to answer it!” he said in reply. Farhan added that the reason for being part of the show was because of its South Asian representation.
“People have been invested in the show. For us, it is really exciting because it is culturally representing us,” he added. Farhan also pointed out that this makes it very special and that this was the most exciting part of being in the show from Marvel Studios.
The actor made his big MCU debut in the fourth episode of Ms. Marvel after months of speculation, playing Waleed, a leader of a vigilante group that helps out the main character of the show. The apparent death of the actor in the same episode has derived varied opinions from the fans online.
“People must enjoy the show and they should enjoy Kamala’s journey. I think that’s what’s important,” Farhan said about Ms. Marvel, which follows Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager who gets some special powers.
“Although his Marvel appearance was much-anticipated, it was quite underwhelming overall. The actor's mystical character was built with high expectations, and his presence truly felt like home,” read the fourth episode’s review on OTTplay.
Starring Iman Vellani, Matt Lintz. Yasmeen Fletcher, Mohan Kapur, Azhar Usman and Arian Moayed among others, the show is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
