Mrunal Thakur on Thadam remake opposite Aditya Roy Kapur: Playing a cop has been on my checklist

Mrunal Thakur is paired opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in the Hindi remake of Tamil movie Thadam.

Mrunal Thakur who has been a part of the Hindi remake of Tamil film Thadam for the past two years will be seen playing the role of a cop. The film features Aditya Roy Kapur in a double role and this is their first outing on-screen. Now, during a recent interaction, Mrunal spoke at length about playing fiery police in the film which original starred Arun Vijay, Tanya Hope, Smruthi Venkat and Vidya Pradeep.

The Toofaan actor told Mid Day, "When I heard the story, I instantly knew that I needed to be a part of this film. My character is intriguing, and playing a cop has been on my checklist. This will be distinct from all the characters I have played till now."

Thadam remake is set to go on floors in October this year in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Bhushan Kumar, the head honcho of T-Series praised Mrunal by saying that while discussing the cop character with fellow producer Murad Khetani, they instantly thought of her for the character.

While Murad added, "We wanted someone who has a soft personality but can be strong when needed."

Meanwhile, Mrunal has several projects in her kitty. She will next be seen in Jersey wherein she plays the onscreen wife of Shahid Kapoor. The film is the Hindi remake of the Telugu flick of the same name. Jersey was set to be a theatrical release in 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been postponed indefinitely.

Thakur will also be making her Telugu debut with Hanu Raghavapudi directorial wherein she is paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The actor's first look was unveiled during her birthday.

Mrunal also has Aankh Micholi in which she is paired opposite Abhimanyu Dassani. The multistarrer film also features Paresh Rawal, Sharman Joshi, Divya Dutta, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz and others in pivotal roles.
