The film, in which she co-stars Dulquer Salmaan, is a war-romance slated for a release on August 5
Mrunal Thakur, who has had an eventful start to her Hindi film career with films like Super 30, Toofaan, Dhamaka and Jersey, will be testing her fortunes next in the Telugu industry. She makes her Telugu debut with Sita Ramam, in which she’s paired alongside Dulquer Salmaan. The war romance, helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi, will release on August 5 in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages.
The 29-year-old is naturally thrilled and shares that she couldn’t have asked for a better debut and describes it as a ‘phenomenal feeling’. It is all the more special for her, given the film simultaneously releases in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil and is likely to make her a familiar face in the South. “I amexcited to be sharing screen space with Dulquer,” she states.
The Jersey actor mentions that Vyjayanthi films and Swapna cinema have given her an opportunity to be a part of a poetic and lyrical story set in the 60s. “ Sita Mahalaxmi, my character, is so beautifully written, I fell in love with her,” Mrunal can’t hide her excitement. Sita Mahalakshmi is a hopeless romantic and will remind the audiences of their own special someone, she’s confident.
The actor felt it was nostalgic to go back to days where people write letters to their loved ones and is thrilled that Sita Ramam will let audiences experience romance with a different flavour. Her look from the film has been the talk of the town, more so after the release of two singles Oh Sita Hey Rama and Inthandham. Vishal Chandrasekhar composes the music for the film.
When asked about what could audiences expect from Sita Mahalakshmi in Sita Ramam, she says the film’s USP is its writing, adding that each character and the screenplay are a vision to behold. Mrunal hasn’t watched the movie herself but can’t wait to watch the magic unfold on the big screen. Sita Ramam is presented by Vyjayanthi Movies and produced by Ashwini Dutt for Swapna Cinema.
Rashmika Mandanna, Sumanth, director Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, director Tharun Bhascker, Bhoomika Chawla, dancer Rukmini Vijay Kumar, Sachin Khedekar, Murali Sharma and Vennela Kishore will play important roles in the film. SPB Charan has crooned for both the singles launched to date. The film is cinematographed by P S Vinod and edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
