Watch Mrs. Undercover on OTTPlay.
Anushree Mehta directed and co-produced the spy comedy Mrs. Undercover with Abir Sengupta, Varun Bajaj, Ishan Saksena, and Sunil Shah. Radhika Apte, Sumeet Vyas, and Rajesh Sharma play major parts in the movie. The movie is slated to premiere on ZEE5 on April 14, 2023.
Radhika Apte plays a spy who has been hiding out for ten years as a housewife named Durga. Suddenly, she is called back to duty. She maintained her cover for 10 years, acting as a loving housewife with a patriarchal husband, nearly forgetting that she was actually an undercover spy.
Earlier, in a statement, while talking about Mrs. Undercover Radhika said that the film is unique to her for a variety of reasons. Not only is espionage comedy a new genre in India, but during her first narration of this movie, Durga became her favourite character. The story of Durga's struggle to find her inner power is told in this movie. The character is amusing, compassionate, and real, yet she is also awkward and unsure of herself. Every family has a Durga—a woman who silently performs her duties but is overlooked because she is viewed as simply a housewife. But this movie brilliantly combats that mindset, which rules in our patriarchal culture, while passing itself off as humour.
While Sumeet said that Mrs. Undercover is a unique espionage comedy written and directed by a woman, with Radhika Apte as the lead, The way the plot is developed and moulded in this film is unmatched in Indian cinema. The movie shows the bravery, tenacity, and resilience of a housewife who is often mistreated. Mrs. Undercover is a complete story that has all the important parts of a good story. The fact that the team provided him with this grey character, who was entertaining and interesting to play, and the thought of this inspiring tale among the congestion of genres and stories makes him happy. Finally, he is excited to work with ZEE5 once more.
