Mr. Local, the romantic comedy film which is directed by M. Rajesh, was released on May 17, 2019. The movie marked the second onscreen collaboration of popular actor Sivakarthikeyan and South cinema’s lady superstar Nayanthara, after the success of Velaikkaran. Even though Mr. Local opened to mixed reviews due to its outdated storyline, the movie eventually earned the love of the audience after its television premiere. The actor’s performance in both comical and emotional scenes, and his one-liners, are a treat to watch.

Nayanthara’s boss lady avatar

The lady superstar of the South film industry appeared in the role of Keerthana Vasudevan, a headstrong, arrogant television producer in Mr. Local. Nayanthara played the role of the boss lady, who is constantly annoyed with leading man Mano’s childish antics and romantic advances, to near perfection. She even goes to the extent of buying the car showroom just to make Mano’s life hell but ends up falling in love with him.

A formulaic romantic comedy

If you are in the mood to revisit a formulaic romantic comedy that doesn’t take itself seriously this weekend, Mr. Local is a perfect choice. Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara’s film offers some good laughs, colorful songs, high-voltage action sequences, and some romantic moments that are rich with the great chemistry of the lead pair. However, if you are looking for a well-made meaningful love story, this M. Rajesh film is not for you.
