Ravi Teja, who was to star in big budget action entertainer directed by Gopichand Malineni recently, had bulk dates when his project unexpectedly hit a roadblock (the producers decided to make the film in Hindi instead). At the right time, Harish Shankar (who had time at his disposal before Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s shoot resumed) came up with an adaptation of the Hindi film Raid and pitched it to him.

The actor and director are now teaming up for their third film together after Shock and Mirapakay. TG Vishwa Prasad is bankrolling the project under People Media Factory while Yaariyan 2 fame Bhagyashri Borse was announced as the female lead earlier this week. Now, the makers have confirmed the title of the ‘mass reunion’ which pays an ode to Hindi acting legend Amitabh Bachchan.

A self-proclaimed fan of Amitabh, Ravi Teja will be seen in and as ‘Mr Bachchan’ in the project. Announcing the title, the Eagle star wrote, “#MrBachchan Naam tho suna hoga. Honoured to play the character with the name of my favourite @SrBachchan  saab.” In a new poster from the film, the actor, sporting a long moustache and a haircut resembling Bachchan, is seated on a Lambretta 150 (vintage two-wheeler).

Mickey J Meyer is scoring the music for the film, which has Ayananka Bose as the cinematographer. Mr Bachchan will be the latter’s third collaboration with Harish Shankar after Duvvada Jagannadham and Ustaad Gabbar Singh. Avinash Kolla has come on board as the production designer while Salaar, KGF fame Ujwal Kulkarni is the editor of the film.

Panorama Studios and T Series are also involved in the production of Mr Bachchan. Film buffs are equally eager to know who’ll step into the shoes of Saurabh Shukla in the remake as well. Before Mr Bachchan, Ravi Teja will have a release for Sankranthi 2024, Eagle, also produced by (Mr Bachchan makers) People Media Factory and directed by Karthik Gattamneni.
