Maryade Prashne, Aaram Arvind Swamy and Max are expected to drop on OTT in January 2025

In the last 2 months of 2024, Kannada audiences did not have much to look forward to in theatres. There was Shivarajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal, Upendra’s UI and Kiccha Sudeep’s Max. In fact, much of December was rather dull for Kannada cinema, because Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 went on a box office rampage across the country. There were a couple of smaller, but fairly decent films that came out in November, which are yet to make to make it to OTT and the buzz is that they will drop in the new year.

Here’s a look at the Kannada films that are expected to drop on OTT in January 2025

Maryade Prashne

RJ Pradeepa’s debut film production was a revenge drama set between the haves and the have nots in Bengaluru. Directed by Nagaraj Somayaji and based on a story by Pradeepa, Maryade Prashne revolved around 3 friends, Suri (Rakesh Adiga), Manja (Poorna Mysore) and Sathisha (Suneel Raoh), each with their own struggle to make a living, whose path crosses that of a bunch of rich and entitled guys, led by Prabhu Mundkur’s Rocky, under tragic circumstances.

Maryade Prashne movie review: Class-conflict revenge drama is all bark and no bite

Director-actor Abhishek Shetty’s latest directorial, with Aniish, Milana Nagaraj and Hrithika Srinivas in the lead. Aniish played Arvind, a loan recovery agent, who struggles to make ends meet, but pretends to have an opulent life, for the benefit of his girlfriend. When she insists that they take their relationship to the next level, he does a runner, in the hope that she will back-off for a while, giving him enough time to put his affairs in order. While hiding away back home, though, Arvind’s life takes a turn.

Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited Max is slated to release in theatres on December 25. The late 2024 release date, which comes only 5 days after Upendra’s UI, has been attributed to certain commitments that producer Kalaippuli S Thanu had made to ensure that it does not become a 2025 film. The assumption is that it has to do with the film’s OTT outing, with sources suggesting that it will be on Zee5. It is said that the film will be on OTT just after the 30-day mark.
