Sobhita Dhulipala has opened up about playing the role of a call girl in Monkey Man. The film has been directed and co-written by Dev Patel.
Sobhita Dhulipala recently made her Hollywood debut with Monkey Man. The actress features in the film, which has been directed and co-written by Dev Patel. Monkey Man also stars Dev in a pivotal role. Sobhita, who attended the premiere of her Hollywood film, has essayed the role of a call girl in Monkey Man. In an interview with The New York Times, Sobhita spoke about her character and her experience of working with Dev in the movie.
Sobhita Dhulipala was asked what it was like being able to make a career out of playing roles on the margins, like in Monkey Man. To this, the actress told the publication, "Those are really beautifully complex humans. To be considered someone who can be trusted with characters like that is really an honour… If something inspires me or there’s some value I can bring to the story, I want to belong with it."
She further opened up about working with Dev Patel, who made his directorial debut with Monkey Man. The actress was questioned if she considered doing Dev's debut directorial to be a risky one. Responding to this, Dhulipala mentioned that there is trust, fear, and vulnerability and one moves as a pack and team.

"There’s a certain purity and passion there — working with a first-time filmmaker. So I came on board, I jumped on board," added Sobhita.
Produced by Jordan Peele, Monkey Man is the story of a man’s pursuit to get revenge for the murder of his mother. The film marks the directorial debut of Dev Patel in Hollywood. It was released worldwide on April 5, 2024. However, Monkey Man is yet to hit the silver screen in India. Earlier, it was scheduled for a release on April 19, 2024. But the movie has not got a green signal from CBFC (Central Board of film Certification) yet.
