Mohit Suri's Ek Villain featured Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.
Mohit Suri has revealed that he had approached Arjun Kapoor for Ek Villain. The movie, which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, became a blockbuster hit when it released. That was one reason why Arjun agreed to working on Ek Villain Returns.
At the trailer launch of the sequel, when a reporter asked Arjun and John Abraham what attracted to Ek Villain Returns, Mohit answered on behalf of Arjun. He said that he had offered the actor Ek Villain too but Arjun refused to work in that movie. Eventually, we know that the young lad Sidharth Malhotra bagged the film and took it to a whole new level with Riteish Deshmukh in the lead.
Whether Arjun was going to be replaced by Sidharth or Riteish, though, is still not known. The actor hinted that he was keen on doing Tevar at that time. “Uss samay mere tevar kuch aur the,” he laughingly said at the launch.
When Mohit and Ekta Kapoor approached Arjun this time for the film, the actor found it destiny and thus, he decided to be a part of the film and not let it go. Mohit, on the other hand, joked that Arjun joined the film after seeing Ek Villain’s success. “I had called him during Villain one also. So, this time when I went, he (Arjun) said yeh wala jaane nahi dunga,” Mohit shared.
Ekta also added that she personally called Arjun to work in Ek Villain but the actor was caught up with his father Boney Kapoor’s film, Tevar. Unfortunately for Arjun, while Tevar flopped at the Box Office, Ek Villain did wonders.
Arjun also believes that Ek Villain Returns is his 2.0 version in Bollywood. The actor has lost a lot of weight for the role and ever since his film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar released, he believes he got a fresh breath of life, like a second opportunity to prove himself in the industry.
